A resolution has been passed and approved in Cebu City that mandates all of its citizens to register their pet dogs and cats every year. Registration is done at the Cebu City Pound, or in the nearest barangay hall, or at veterinary clinics in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Cebu City government.
Annual registration fee is P150. For each registration, a rabies vaccine shot and a dog collar are given for free. Pet owners who fail to register their pets will be penalized. A LIST OF FINES in Cebu City are shown below:
P2,000 – Fine for owners who fail to register and/or vaccinate their pets against rabies.
P500 – Fine for owners who fail to put their pets on leash when in public.
P10,000 – Fine for owners who refuse to confine & observe their pets after a biting incident.
P25,000 – Fine for owners who refuse to confine & observe their pets after a biting incident, and refusing to offer financial & medical assistance to bite victims.
Not less than P5,000 – Fine for anybody who executes pets by electrocution, with imprisonment of 1 up to 4 years.
P2,000 – Fine for owners who refuse to report their pets to authorities after a biting incident.
P500 to P1,000 – Fine when claiming unregistered dogs from the Cebu City Pound.
Deportation – If any of the above offenses are committed by an alien (foreigner).
