Initiated by the World Veterinary Association (WVA) in the year 2000, it is to be celebrated yearly on the last Saturday of April. With its theme of choice, this year’s World Veterinary Day aims to increase the society’s interest and concern on how animals are used and treated. It also gives acknowledgement to veterinarians who fills the gap between humans and animals.
World Veterinary Day (WVD), by itself, generally aims to promote the veterinary profession to a large audience, especially the general public; and to attract the attention of mass media to the important contribution of the veterinary profession to the benefit of society and all animals (animal health, animal welfare and public health).
